Big Ten Realignment

The Big Ten Realigment was officially announced tonight for the 2011 Season.

Divisions were aligned as follows:

Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern

Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue and Indiana are in the other.

What are your thoughts? From my perspective, I cannot wait for these new rivalries to begin.

Front Row Tickets to Rush

This past week was a great week for me. Two weeks ago, I signed up online at the FM Station 96.1 The Brew. The station was giving away front row tickets to Rush. Then it happened, I started receiving text messages from connections on Facebook, some I knew, others I just knew online. All of them telling me to get in contact with the station.

I had 24 hours to respond, the Facebook Connections directed me to the site and I won the front row tickets. In return, I snapped a number of pictures on my iPhone and posted them during the concert on Facebook. What a cool way to share the experience with others.

Another reason to stay connected with your friends and contacts on social media. You never know when your network may tell you that you won something as well.

Creative Writing

My son asked me about taking an elective in 9th grade instead of study hall. I told him to find something interesting. He later told me that he wanted to take “Creative Writing”. I thought, hmm sounds interesting. It should be a good learning experience for writing better.

Tonight, I attended “Back To School Night” to meet my son’s teachers. When it was time to meet the “Creative Writing” Teacher I was blown away. This is a semester course and my son will be learning how to write effective blogs and podcasts in addition to all types of writing styles.

Very cool! I wish I could sign-up for this course. I am really pumped that 9th graders are learning these skills in high school.

What are your thoughts?

Facebook Company Page

How many of you regularly visit Facebook Company Web Pages? You may have received an invitation and answered the question whether you “Like” it or not.

I have to tell you that I do not visit Company Fan Pages that often either. A lot of it has to do with the way Facebook is setup. Everyone is interested in what their friends have to say and you can see all of that in one place. You do not have to go to their individual profiles to see this information.

What has been your experience with company fan pages? Do you know of a Fan Page that you regularly visit? If so, I would like to know. I have not found one yet for any reason.

My point here isn’t that you should not spend time making your Company Page look cool. I just think you need to know its more about the message you communicate to your fans and less about how cool the site looks.

This is all about branding and making your presence felt .

I really want this site to just be a site for random postings on different topics. Best way to follow is on twitter or via rss or email.

I think you will like this site and the information contained on it.

I also plan on referencing a lot of friends of mine on this site. There is a lot of great content out there and I think personal experience speaks volumes.
